Restore Hope, Secure a Future

For over 60 years, Methodist Retirement Communities has been restoring hope to older adults who find themselves in difficult situations and have no place to turn for help.  

In fact, this legacy of hope goes back to MRC’s very beginning.  In September 1961, Hurricane Carla slammed into the coast of Texas leaving a path of destruction in its wake.  When the winds died down and the waters receded, a number of older adults on Galveston Island found themselves in the very uncertain position of having no place to call home.  

 With the opening of Moody House, MRC’s first community in January of ’62, several of those individuals found a safe new home, a renewed sense of hope and a secure future as some of MRC’s very first residents.  

 Today, MRC continues that legacy of care to those experiencing uncertain futures.  Each year, through gifts from people like you, a number of older adults in need find a helping hand to leave a life of uncertainty.  

 Some seeking assistance live in substandard housing.  Others need care with no good place to turn.  Still others have been exploited and long for safety.  Most are also battling daily with the plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom.  

 They turn to MRC and to generous donors like you to find the peace of mind and sense of hope that comes with a secure home at an MRC community.  

 Restoring Hope and Securing a Future for an older adult in need can only be done through partnerships with people like you.  Each gift of $100 to MRC’s Covenant Fund ensures a person in need has a safe home, great meals, warm companionship and compassionate care for One More Day.
